[Bug 709729] [NEW] X11 crashes, magic-sysreq-key doesn't work anymore

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-evdev

After today's update, X11 is crashing and locking up the machine. The
machine boots normally, gdm is being started, but once I move the
bluetooth connected mouse, the screen starts to flicker, and then the
machine locks up.

Todays update:

The machine DOES NOT use compiz:

$ ps auxwww|grep compiz
hildeb 2549 0.0 0.0 10372 924 pts/0 S+ 13:11 0:00 grep compiz

So I think the packages causing the error boil down to the xorg and x11
packages:

2011-01-29 09:13:37 status installed libx11-data 2:1.3.3-3ubuntu3
2011-01-29 09:13:37 status installed libx11-6 2:1.3.3-3ubuntu3

2011-01-29 09:13:59 status installed xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.6.0-1ubuntu1
2011-01-29 09:13:59 status installed xserver-xorg-video-chips 1:1.2.3-2ubuntu1
2011-01-29 09:13:59 status installed xserver-xorg-video-fbdev 1:0.4.2-3ubuntu1

I don't use fb (in X) or the "chips" driver, and the dev packages don't
matter, thus:

2011-01-29 09:13:37 status installed libx11-data 2:1.3.3-3ubuntu3
2011-01-29 09:13:37 status installed libx11-6 2:1.3.3-3ubuntu3
2011-01-29 09:13:37 status installed libx11-xcb1 2:1.3.3-3ubuntu3
2011-01-29 09:13:59 status installed xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.6.0-1ubuntu1

The logfile (attached) documents a crash immediately after the mouse is
being recognized:
