Public bug reported:

This is a new installation of 10.04.1 LTS on a 4 GB HP thumb drive,
using the WinXP-based "USB installer". The installation looks good, but
the Nvidia driver installation failed via a good 100 ethernet
connection, twice. No idea why. --G
