amd64 nvidia-graphics-drivers 270.29-0ubuntu1~lucid~xup2 locks up at GDM
I just updated from nvidia-graphics-drivers 270.18 to
nvidia-graphics-drivers 270.29-0ubuntu1~lucid~xup2
System loads up and as soon as GDM displays the Wallpaper and Mouse cursor I
experience a hard lock up. No reaction to keyboard/mouse/power-switch etc.
I'm unable to provide any meaningful debug trace or log entry as the system
did not record anything in the system logs. Only solution is to hard reset
(and reboot in recovery/failsafeX mode).
System is a Gigabyte 870A-UD3 motherboard, AMD Athlon II X2 255 CPU, 8GB
RAM, Nvidia GeForce 210 PCIe 1GB running Ubuntu 10.04 amd64 (at the time of
writing: Linux Nebuchadnezzar 2.6.32-28-generic #55-Ubuntu SMP Mon Jan 10
23:42:43 UTC 2011 x86_64 GNU/Linux)
DKMS compile went through without a problem and initrd was also rebuilt
fine.
Any idea how to downgrade to the previous 270.18 package (can't see it in
the PPA)? Need to get my system going again.
