grayson@htpc:~$ apt-cache policy xorg
xorg:
  Installed: 1:7.6~3ubuntu11
  Candidate: 1:7.6+4ubuntu1
  Version table:
     1:7.6+4ubuntu1 0

 *** 1:7.6~3ubuntu11 0
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

The motherboard I have is an ECS A780GM-A ATX Motherboard.

With fglrx, I am able to load into my KDE desktop. But with xserver-
xorg-video-radeon (I'm not sure if it's either radeon or ati, though),
this is what I'm getting (please excuse the intro and the ending with
effects):

(I did zoom up closely so you all can see the lines across the screen,
but please excuse the video quality.)

The open source radeon/ati drivers worked when I was in Kubuntu 10.10
before I upgraded to 11.04 (development branch).

I don't think it's possible to follow the debugging procedures while
booting from LiveCD, so how am I going to go about following the
debugging procedures if I boot into a desktop but then it got lines
across and the screen freezes to a single color (in my case, blue)?
