[Bug 752883] [NEW] ubuntu doesnt boot in graphic mode after insdtallation on aspire netbook
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: xorg
Hi.
I had a problem when I first installed ubuntu on my new laptop. booting
via the live-usb went fine and I installed unbuntu 10.10 after having
swept over the entire hdd with a dd command. however, when I rebooted
the system i only got to the shell. after some searching I found out
that I could hold the shift key pressed while booting to get the grub
menu, because I thought there was some fault here. with this mode I
could boot ubuntu in low graphics mode, that made me figure out it must
be the graphic driver, not anything else. this was not too obvious to
start with though, i must say. well anyhow i quite soon then found the
easy trick via the www.xorg homepage to do the X -configure. This fixed
everything, the graphics work fine now.
This is what I have

as I mentioned before it works fine now, I thought you might be able to do something extra about it for the next netbook-noob, maybe simply a hint at the console window to try sudo X -configure - that could really help...
best regards, patric
