[Bug 765416] Re: [g41] GPU lockup (IPEHR: 0x01800002)

 

Alright, I have a suspicion you may be seeing two different bugs.  Or,
at least, it may take two different fixes to completely solve it.  Let's
try to tease this apart.

First, lets turn on graphics debugging.  Install the xdiagnose utility
and then turn on graphics debug messages (the first checkbox).

Next, here is a PPA that has a workaround for screen blanking issues.
Please install this, reboot, and try to reproduce the problem.

A number of people with i915/i945 chips are reporting this helps.  I
think your g41 may be within the same family so perhaps will be improved
too.

Note this PPA won't fix *all* corner cases where screen blanking fails,
but it should improve a large subset of them.
