Message #125567
[Bug 775028] [NEW] ubuntu crashed during update, had to use cd to regain access
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel
was updating from maverick 10.1 to 11.1 and after linux downloaded the
update(800 mb in 20 minutes), and was successfully updating for 4 hours
out of the 6 needed, the whole screen went black(only the mouse cursor
was visible) so i entered the console using ctrl+alt+f1, where i was
notified i have a message which i didnt know how to read because i didnt
know the location of the message or how to open it because my knowledge
in console commands is very poor, so i pressed ctrl+alt+del to close all
programs and reboot the system, then at the grub screen i tried to run
all of the version of the core, older and new, recovery and normal ones
and i allways got a message saying: the disk drive for / is not yet
ready or preset, press S to skip or M to use manual recovery, after
pressing S, The disk for /tmp is not ready yet or present and then after
pressing S again and abit of waiting it said mountall: plymouth command
failed, disconnected from plymouth and after that i couldnt do anything
but reboot, and as i said i had to use a CD to reenter my desktop.
