Message #125915
[Bug 775936] [NEW] Render error with Intel GMA graphics card
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel
I've upgraded to Natty a few days ago. Since that time, each boot ends with this messages:
[ 23.910681] render error detected, EIR: 0x00000010
[ 23.910689] IPEIR: 0x00000000
[ 23.910692] IPEHR: 0x00000000
[ 23.910694] INSTDONE: 0xfffffffe
[ 23.910697] INSTPS: 0x00000000
[ 23.910699] INSTDONE1: 0xffffffff
[ 23.910702] ACTHD: 0x00000000
[ 23.910705] page table error
[ 23.910707] PGTBL_ER: 0x00100000
[ 23.910711] [drm:i915_report_and_clear_eir] *ERROR* EIR stuck: 0x00000010, masking
System then starts and works correctly but very often DOSBox run in
fullscreen after exiting locks up the desktop screen (even though the
process is gone, I still see the window, panel stop refreshing, I see a
mouse cursor but I can't click anything etc.). Switching to tty1 and
back makes it show last shown tty1 contents - as if X lost the ability
to refresh the screen. The only way to recover is to reboot or restart
the gdm service.
I use Ubuntu Classic desktop with Compiz. I had such problems neither in
Lucid nor in Maverick before.
