[Bug 756540] Re: ATI graphics card fails when RAM increased to 4Gb on Natty Beta

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-radeon

I have a Powercolor ATI Radeon HD5770 graphics card on an ASUS M2V-MX motherboard.
The motherboard has two RAM slots which can take up to 2Gb each.

If I use with either of my 2Gb DIMMS in either slot it works fine.
If I then try with both DIMMs in place, the login screen appears scrambled.

I can actually provide a password and can hear the login tune but the
screen is just a garbled mess.

I have also tried the proprietary ATI driver "fglrx" with the same
  outcome.

This is on 64-bit Ubuntu v11.04 Natty Beta with all of the latest
  updates.

I'd be happy to assist with any further testing.
