Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

Sometimes, when i open some media contents (songs, videos, ...),
regardless of the application being used (vlc, totem, rhythmbox, ...) my
laptop with intel graphical processor becomes incredibly slow and
unusable. I can't do practically nothing, even writing on a terminal.
Looking at the system monitor I placed in gnome-panel, it seems like a
process is running at background, preventing all the other application
from using the system's resources. Simultaneously, the hard disk seems
busy with some I/O operations, as though the aforementioned background
process is doing something with it. After a while everything becomes
quite, screen freezes completely, and fans speedup, as though the
aforementioned process has gone from background to "foreground". At this
point I have the only option to manually shutdown the laptop.
