[Bug 801600] Re: X11 does not tolerate errors in /etc/X11/xorg.conf

 

Max, you haven't indicated what version of Ubuntu you're reporting this
against.  Also, you should indicate whether you're running gdm or
lightdm.

I've confirmed that in oneiric with lightdm it doesn't start up
failsafex if there is an error in xorg.conf - but I think that's more
due to lack of some sort of failsafe support in lightdm, than an issue
in X, which in fact is already in the plans.

However, if you are using gdm, and/or are on a release before oneiric,
then there is probably a different problem at play.

Anyway, let me know which window manager you're using.  (Really, you
should be filing bugs using 'ubuntu-bug xorg', because it includes a
number of files that help me see how your system is set up.)
