Message #133067
[Bug 801600] [NEW] X11 does not tolerate errors in /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Public bug reported:
If an error is made in editing /etc/X11/xorg.conf, the next time the computer is started, X will not start.
This is not as user-friendly as it should be. While most people using linux are experienced enough to fix this, some aren't and might urgently need access to their computer.
If errors in the text configuration file (such as a misspelled variable in the input section for the mouse in my case) prevent X from starting, the user should be offered the option to reset the config to a default state that X is likely to run successfully with.
** Affects: xorg-server (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
