Message #133321
[Bug 802914] [NEW] [q45] unlocking screensaver - after a long period of time graphics might not be updated any more
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 757221 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/757221
Public bug reported:
Really looks like https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/757221
so i mostly c/p this good description, with minor changes/details.
Howto reproduce:
1) lock the screen using ctrl+alt+L
2) wait for a long period of time (more than 30min), it always happens when waiting.. let's say, for 12h, but i always failed to reproduce this bug voluntarily, excepted this morning, back @ my workstation, which was (as usual) unable to unlock.
3) press a button
expected behaviour:
4) screen unlock widget rendered
5) type in password, resume session
actual behaviour:
4) screen unlock widget is _not_ drawn
5) blind typing password and pressing enter I *think* unlocks screen, but still no updates to the screen are rendered. I only see a black screen (i don't have any screen saver), mouse cursor however changes it's icon as I move it around the screen (edit box, windows edges etc..)
I also have theses "weird" warnings in my Xorg logs :
(WW) intel(0): I830DRI2GetMSC:1064 get vblank counter failed: Invalid argument
(WW) intel(0): I830DRI2GetMSC:1064 get vblank counter failed: Invalid argument
(WW) intel(0): I830DRI2GetMSC:1064 get vblank counter failed: Invalid argument
(WW) intel(0): I830DRI2GetMSC:1064 get vblank counter failed: Invalid argument
(WW) intel(0): I830DRI2ScheduleWaitMSC:1124 get vblank counter failed: Invalid argument
(WW) intel(0): first get vblank counter failed: Invalid argument
As in this bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/710594
fi. I ran apport-cli from tty1 while my Xsession was still "black".
I did not found any solution excepted restarting gdm (then everything works flawlessly, until next ctrl+alt+L and a long period of inactivity).
