I use an additional monitor with my asus laptop. This works fine, except for the following. I have 11.04 with gnome ("ubuntu classic")
1. when I turn my computer on with the monitor attached, I get a black screen on the laptop and an empty background - no menu bar- on the external screen. all I can do is reboot the computer with the on/off swicth. I have to boot the computer without the extra monitor, then plug it in after boot.
2. When I don't use the external monitor, I can use the laptop until it goes to sleep mode. After that happens, it's dead. All I can do is hit the on/off switch. So I have to make sure it never goes to sleep mode.
