[Bug 826397] [NEW] Black screen after screen lock

Public bug reported:

My display is set to sleep and the screen to lock after inactivity. If
I return to my machine after a short period of time everything is normal
(password dialog is displayed, after successful password entry I can
view and use my desktop). If I return after a longer period of time
(perhaps 30 minutes) when the screen wakes, it is black with only the
mouse pointer visible.

The mouse cursor is responsive to mouse input. I can unlock the screen
by typing my password and enter, although the screen is still black. I
can switch to virtual terminals without problem.

The only way I've found to resolve the issue is to restart X (ctrl-alt-
backspace).
