[Bug 843946] [NEW] [nvidia] xorg crash on battery

Public bug reported:

I think i found the root cause of this behaviour.
My story started in december 2010 when i bought a new laptop, msi gt660r with
geforce gtx 285m and windows 7 preinstalled. I use windows only for work
and linux as my main os. Doing anything on windows which needed gpu, like
watching youtube, movies or just using windows (with aero enabled), no matter if
i was on battery or not, after some time it always caused "Display driver stopped
responding and has recovered" or just black screen of death.
It was a PITA and i couldn't find any solution for this for a long time.
Back to ubuntu now, no matter if it was 10.10, 11.04 or 11.10 i suffered from
similiar bug - whenever i was on battery or not xorg always crashed after
sometime (mainly on a battery). Then i found a workaround for this on some windows forum,
it was pretty simple: all you needed to do was to open nvidia control panel,
change power management settings from adaptive to prefer maximum performance
and add explorer and few other programs to the list and override this settings
on them. Done, no more crashes! Today i tried this on 11.10, opened nvidia
settings and applied the same options - fixed. AFAIK this should work for ati
users too (they had that same problems on that forum for win7).
