Message #142424
[Bug 869469] [NEW] SGI 1600SW won't start with nvidia-enabled kernel
Public bug reported:
Kubuntu Natty
2.6.38-11-generic
X.Org X Server 1.10.1
i128: compiled for 1.10.0, module version = 1.3.4
Trying to get multi-monitor setup working. Two NVIDIA cards running on
proprietary driver, one Number Nine Revolution IV running i128. X
starts, but SGI 1600SW stays blank and deactivated. Even when
suppressing all configuration of NVIDIA cards, 1600SW still won't
display anything. X starts normally (can hear the "session started"
sound and can switch to console with Ctl-Alt-F1), but monitor stays in
idle mode. Xorg.0.log indicates no obvious errors.
Had to set NoAccel to true to keep machine from freezing up completely.
This combination works if the NVIDIA cards are driven by the "nouveau"
driver instead of the "nvidia" driver.
This combination (i128 + nvidia) worked well in Hardy (have tried in
every version since, without luck.
