Public bug reported:

Dell D410 laptop.
After the first screen unlock following boot, the screen does not come up from power save mode i.e. it stays dim until I use the Fn/^ keys to bring up the brightness manually. The slider position is initially at the low end ... as soon as it moves one position, the screen goes to max brightness. After this has happened once, the screen starts dimming again after some timeout occurs.
I have turned off the "dim screen to save power" option with no effect.
Formerly (before release), I got a "False GPU lockup" crash associated with the screen dimming problem ... the crash does not happen any more, but the screen dimming problem following unlock remains. My previously reported bugs are 868865 and 868702.
