[Bug 896648] [NEW] Monitor resolution

Public bug reported:

Release 11.10

Live CD enabled a large range of resolutions support by my graphics card
and monitor. Following the install, a single resolution (1280x1024) is
available in Displays.

My graphics card doesn't appear to be recognised reliably;
sudo lshw -C video - most often produces no output
lspci | grep VGA - most often produces no output
one time they did produce appropriate output, at that time I was able to set resolutions appropriately, but subsequently lost it on rebooting. I use this graphics card in dual boot with Vista quite reliably.

The one time 'sudo lshw -C video' produced output:
  *-display
