[Bug 387929] Re: no mobility powerset

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd

Hi I have this problem, I have an asus F3jp with Ati Radeon Mobility x1700.
  I install ubuntu 9.04, but I can't install catalyst 9.3 cause xorg1.6 work only with catalyst 9.4.

Catalyst 9.4 is only for now HD video card and so don't support my video
  card.

There isn't problem with GUI or Compiz, RadeonHD open drive don't have powerset! so my video card work full power always!
This make my battery life short and make my laptop very noisy (cause full speed fan) and HOT!! VERY HOT!.

Anybody know how set the power of my video card low? I don't need all
video card power. For youtube and some film i think minimum power is
  enought!

  On ati driver was powerset...

  Sorry my English!
