[Bug 437447] Re: xserver-xorg-video-radeon when installed causes abnormal shutdown
Hi there
Yesterday I managed to overcome the shutdown issue by using the
following guide to downgrade my xserver (so I could use a version of
fglrx that supports my Mobility Radeon X2300 card):
http://tan-com.com/posts/technology/fix-ubuntu-904-ati-driver-issue
This seems to have fixed some additional issues I had been having
previously:
1. When resuming from hibernate, I used to get a garbled display when I
switch to a tty terminal (the GUI was fine and I could switch back to it
anytime).
2. When starting a 3D game (I tried Glest and Billiard-GL) my entire
system used to freeze and I had to force a shutdown.
After following that guide these problems no longer occur.
