[Bug 439198] [NEW] using propretory drivers for my nvidia 9500gt did not function correctly. also, i got a crash when trying to install the upgrade tool.

I have an nVidia 9500GT. I cannot activate my proprietary drivers for
use in Ubuntu 8.10. I tried to activate them and it crashed and did not
activate. I do not know what else I should try.
