[Bug 444251] [NEW] [karmic] server crashes when laptop is docked

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati

Noticed this in the Karmic Beta release when my laptop (Dell C640) is
plugged into the docking station. I get to the login prompt, but when I
log in the on-screen "progress" animation freezes and the mouse becomes
unresponsive. The machine is still accessible via the network, however
the console is locked-up (Ctrl+Alt+F1 does nothing). After another
minute or so, the machine completely freezes (network sessions as well)
and has to be hard-reset.

The problem does not occur if the machine is booted out of the docking
station, but it will occur if the machine is booted in the dock and then
removed before logging-in.

** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
