Message #25723
[Bug 445871] Re: gnome-display-properties sets a to low virtual screen size
In pursuit of an Compiz/Mesa problem( I installed a patched version of
mesa from PPA ( https://edge.launchpad.net/~cavedon/+archive/ppa ) and
now use emerald instead of metacity as window decorator and I can't
reproduce this bug anymore. I see though now different behaviour, maybe
related. It seems that depending on the Virtual setting in the "Display"
subsection of xorg.conf, gnome-display-settings is acting differently.
1. Virtual 3120 1050: gnome-display-settings report a max resolution of
1280x1024@85 on my second LCD display (actually a beamer). And is
perfectly able to extend my desktop without problems and with compiz
working.
2. Changing to Virtual 3040 1200, reboot: gnome-display-settings report
a max resolution of 1600x1200@60 on my second LCD display. And is again
perfectly able to extend my desktop to this higher resolution without
problems and with compiz working.
I would expect gnome-display-settings always to report the maximum
available resolution.
