Please see the attached screenshots. When I try play any kind of video
file in VLC, movie player or any other movie playback software, the
video doesn't show up with the correct colours.

I have been able to resolve this by launching the "Nvidia X Server
Settings", which resets the colorspace to be correct.

The desktop and login screens look fine!

Please help.
