On a 13" Macbook Pro 5.5 using the Mini Display Port to DVI Adaptor
going to a Samsung SyncMaster 2494HM I can't get the default resolution
to run on the external monitor which is 1920x1080.

Nvidia will only detect up to 1680x1050.

I have tried the 185 and 190 drivers with no success also writing in my
own resolution in xorg.conf still with no success.

Option         "metamodes" "DFP-0: nvidia-auto-select +0+0, DFP-1:
1920x1080 +0+0"


I know about Nvidia drivers, but I hope there will be something that Ubuntu can possibly do to get these working for external monitors on Macbook Pros.
