Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics

After upgrading to Karmic today from 9.04 using the option in update-manager, my touchpad doesn't work. Onboard are 2 sets of click buttons, a mouse nub, and a touchpad. All of the touchpad's hardware doesn't work at all, so I can't click without an external mouse. 
According to xorg.0.log, the driver isn't loading because no synaptics device is found. In Xubuntu 8.10 and 9.04 the touchpad worked with no configuration needed.
