[Bug 469368] [NEW] maximum screen resolution stuck at 800x600, but the monitor is capapble of much higher

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

I just did a distribution upgrade from 9.04 to 9.10, and upon restart,
my maximum screen resolution is only 800x600. I had it at 1280x720 in
9.04, and all previous installations as long as I have used Ubuntu
(3years now), and though it isn't a dealbreaker, it is quite a
hassle.... My eepc netbook gets the same resolution, and looks better!
