[Bug 469858] [NEW] fglrx causes computer to hang on boot

Public bug reported:

Following installation of the fglrx driver on my Toshiba A200 notebook,
the computer hangs during reboot - after Grub has timed out and started
the defaults OS (kbuntu 9.10). It doesn't get as far as the login
screen. The normal boot process appears for a few seconds, then the
screen goes blank. [Ctrl] [Alt] [F1] doesn't show a console screen.

Recovery back to the standard Ubuntu device driver is simple - am able
to boot to command line login, and replace the xorg.conf that was
created by fglrx with a standard version of xorg.conf saved after
initial install of 9.10.

The notebook works using the standard Ubuntu video driver, but is
limited to useless low resolutions (1024x768 maximum).
