[Bug 471763] Re: newly upgraded to Ubunto 9.10 and boot up doesn't work without external monitor attached to laptop

 

 *- when connecting the external monitor to allow bootup, it only has to
be connected when the laptop seems to be frozen (no disk activity for
several minutes).  After connecting the monitor it can be disconnected a
few seconds after the disk becomes active and normal boot up will
proceed.

 *- the video resolution of the laptop screen reverts back to a lower
resolution
