Here is ps output showing that the process is in disk-wait state and
hence unkillable.

ubuntu@ubuntu:/var/log$ ps auxwww | grep X
root      2261  4.4  0.0      0     0 ?        Ds   03:05   1:35 [Xorg]

I will next attach copies of the syslog and Xorg.0.log post-crash. These
were fetched from the machine with the crashed server via an ssh
connection (which still worked; the machine is unusable from its own
keyboard and display).
