[Bug 478603] [NEW] High xorg CPU usage when watching HD video

Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 9.10 fully updated

xorg-server 2:1.6.4-2ubuntu4
Video card: ATI Radeon Xpress 200M
CPU: Intel Core Duo T2050 (2x1.6Ghz)

I've got 30% xorg CPU usage when i'm watching 720p videos in VLC and in
MPlayer too (I think its unrelated to media players because i tried all
kind of video output and the problem remained) . Because of this, 720p
videos are unwatchable (for example: when VLC uses 80% CPU ,xorg CPU
usage drops to 20% and the video gets stuck until the video bitrate
lowers --> VLC CPU usage drops under 70%) while under a different OS the
same video runs smoothly.
