[Bug 480340] [NEW] Keyboard or mouse event repeat as if stuck, rendering system unusable until xorg restarted

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

At random intervals - typically after several hours - an event from either the keyboard or mouse will repeat indefinitely. So far this has been exemplified in three separate instances by an apparently "stuck" C key, Enter key and left mouse button.
Each have rendered further analysis essentially impossible, although I had sufficient spare hardware to eliminate that possibility.

The problem can be cleared by restarting xorg (I have ctrl-alt-backspace
enabled). There was no consistency between the applications that were
running at the time and all open apps were affected (whichever had focus
in the stuck key instances) so it would appear to be an X-server (or
possible Gnome) issue.

** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
