[Bug 483121] [NEW] Synaptics driver does not appear to support touchpad
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics
I have a "Lenovo ThinkPlus USB Keyboard with UltraNav", which is--
effectively --the input module out of a ThinkPad, in stand-alone
keyboard plus trackpad / trackpoint form. lsusb and lshal report that
LiteOn is involved in some way, but there is very definitely a Synaptics
combo pad/point unit enclosed: "info.product = 'Synaptics Inc. Composite
TouchPad / TrackPoint' (string)"
Unfortunately, it's not supported:
(II) LoadModule: "synaptics"
(II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/input//synaptics_drv.so
(II) Module synaptics: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
compiled for 1.6.4, module version = 1.1.2
Module class: X.Org XInput Driver
ABI class: X.Org XInput driver, version 4.0
(II) Synaptics touchpad driver version 1.1.2
(**) Option "Device" "/dev/input/event9"
(**) Option "SHMConfig" "true"
(**) Option "MaxTapMove" "2000"
(**) Option "VertEdgeScroll" "true"
(**) Option "HorizEdgeScroll" "true"
(--) Synaptics Inc. Composite TouchPad / TrackPoint: no supported touchpad found
(EE) Synaptics Inc. Composite TouchPad / TrackPoint Unable to query/initialize Synaptics hardware.
(EE) PreInit failed for input device "Synaptics Inc. Composite TouchPad / TrackPoint"
(II) UnloadModule: "synaptics"
(EE) config/hal: NewInputDeviceRequest failed (8)
(II) config/hal: Adding input device Synaptics Inc. Composite TouchPad / TrackPoint
(II) Synaptics touchpad driver version 1.1.2
(**) Option "Device" "/dev/input/event8"
(**) Option "SHMConfig" "true"
(**) Option "MaxTapMove" "2000"
(**) Option "VertEdgeScroll" "true"
(**) Option "HorizEdgeScroll" "true"
(--) Synaptics Inc. Composite TouchPad / TrackPoint: no supported touchpad found
(EE) Synaptics Inc. Composite TouchPad / TrackPoint Unable to query/initialize Synaptics hardware.
(EE) PreInit failed for input device "Synaptics Inc. Composite TouchPad / TrackPoint"
(II) UnloadModule: "synaptics"
(EE) config/hal: NewInputDeviceRequest failed (8)
If this is as simple as adding a USB product ID to synaptics, it would
be greatly appreciated.
