Binary package hint: xorg

My 2655XDVD/6.0 Toshiba laptop will not display beyond 800 X 600.  A 1 -
2 inch blank screen borders the display and will not stretch to fill the
screen.

I am using Ubuntu 9.10 and haven't installed any other packages except
the ones that came with the original distribution.

Please send me instructions on how to resolve this issue.
