I had filed similar bug report https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/466310 but responding here since there is
no activity on my bug report.

I have tested the current driver for a day and there is no freeze. I can
test for another day but I have to leave this Desktop tomorrow and will
not have access to it later on.

I will report if there is a freeze before I leave.

The current driver:

xserver-xoeg-video-intel 5:2.8.0-1-g2463865
Kernel 2.6.31-17-generic
