I applied this DefaultDepth=16 to xorg.conf on my10 year  old G3 400 MHz
256 MB Ram ATI Rage 128 Pro Graphics, running Ubuntu 9.1, runs as sweet
as a nut compared to the 8 bit and 256 colours, now just to work on
sound and dial up modem..hmmmm
