  to reproduce:
  connect external monitor to notebook
  open blender and make it fullscreen on the external monitor
  now rotate left via "configure display settings" applet
  it often forced a logout at this point, if not:
  rotate back to normal, now it forced logout

  produced with current karmic + x-updates (brought in xserver-xorg-video-
  intel 2:2.9.0-1ubuntu1~xup~1 today)
