[Bug 530622] [NEW] After suspend, screen is dead until switching terminals

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

Hello!

I recently updated to Lucid. I noticed this problem:

When I suspend the computer, everything seems OK. However, when I
resume, the screen remains turned off. I can see the system turned
on—for example, the numlock key turns the LED on and off—but the screen
doesn't turn on.

The only thing that seems to work is pressing Alt-F6 and then Alt-F7. I
tried pressing other keys (in case the problem was just the screensaver)
but that doesn't work. Neither Alt-F7 directly nor other Alt-F# followed
by Alt-F7 works.

Once the screen turns on (after Alt-F6 and Alt-F7), the password dialog
of the screensaver* comes up and I can continue my session. (* I have my
computer set up to lock the screen, but with no actual screensaver on
other than turning off the screen.)

Note that after the session resumes I experience bug #528138 which might
be related somehow.
