Unfortunately I can't test this, since vmmouse_detect fails in kvm as well, but
something like this should work:
ACTION=="add", ENV{ID_INPUT_MOUSE}=="?*",
PROGRAM="/usr/bin/vmmouse_detect", ENV{x11_driver}="vmmouse"
If anyone could send me udevadm info --attribute-walk --name=/dev/input/eventXX
from the vmmouse device, I can help with making that rule a little tighter to
avoid running vmmouse_detect for obvious non-vmmouse devices.
