Message #50043
[Bug 528026] Re: Often freezes before GDM login screen appears
Hello Bryce,
I will answer the two messages in one:
1. It is a complete system freeze. No mouse, no keyboard (caps and num lock un responsive) only the brown GDM backround.
After a poweroff the system goes to 800x600 with a probability of 50% or has one of the following behaviours:
1.1 Freezes again
1.2 GDM login window appears then it quickly disapperas leaving only the bottom bar available - so the ystem can only be rebooted
1.3 The GDM login appears, I can login and immediately after the screen gets corrupted into vertical stripped rectangles that dissapear when my background is setup.
I have noticed that sometimes on the text console a message like 'plymouth exited with code 2' or similar appears. Mybe it is related.
2. I will install the suggested PPA ASAP.
Regards,
Daniel
