[Bug 532676] [NEW] [r300] mouse cursor disappears after xrandr change

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati

My ubuntu lucid system with a radeon 9600 xt (r300 driver) using kms
loses its mouse cursor if I change the refresh frequency through xrandr.
Certain actions bring it back (I've been using the animated workspace
switch in compiz, but I think I've seen other things do it too). Once
the mouse cursor has been "repaired" like this it keeps working until
xrandr is used again. If xrandr is configured to do something after
logging in that also hides the cursor, making this a somewhat annoying
problem.

The symptoms for this bug are identical to what's reported as bug 475917
in xserver-xorg-video-intel, so it seems possible there is a shared
underlying cause. I was not sure if I should generalize that report or
file a separate one. I don't think this is bug 352396 because the mouse
cursor works just fine until I force an xrandr change.

I'm sorry, but I have no idea where to start debugging this. Suggestions
appreciated.
