Message #56268
[Bug 546287] [NEW] system hangs infinitely during boot if external lcd display connected
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: xorg
If the external, secondary LCD display is connected to the notebook, the
boot process hangs while the ubuntu logo is displayed (with the 5 red
dots beneath). It is neither possible then to switch to an ascii
console.
Booting with the monitor cable unplugged succeeds.
Heavily coupled system! Consider also a general design flaw: one minor
failure stops everything. Should always be possible to get the linux
kernel booted and do a console login somehow, at least to gather
diagnostic information (trace hanging process or alike).
