Public bug reported:

UNR on eeepc - logging into xfce session normally works fine
when i attach an external monitor login fails - X crashes about 5 seconds after i enter my password an i am returned to the gdm screen
when i attach the external monitor and log into GNOME it works fine
when i detach the monitor and try xfce again it works fine

after much futzing around i managed to get a core dump - find gdb output
attached
