** Summary changed:
- Intel Arrandale Video Corruption With KMS (Unusable)
+ Intel Arrandale Video Corruption (Unusable)
** Description changed:
Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel
I have a Sony Vaio VPCZ1 with an Intel Core i7, Intel Arrandale GMA HD
and nVidia GT330M graphics. I have tried both the Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid
Beta 1 and the latest daily build (3/28, AMD64). When booting with the
nVidia card selected, I get a black screen and a crash. When booting
with the Intel card, I get a visible screen, however it is severely
corrupted and unusable (Please see attached image). In Ubuntu 9.10,
trying to use the Intel card results in a black screen with a few yellow
vertical wavy lines and a hard crash.
+
+ If I boot with the "nomodeset" option, the computer will boot properly
+ but X refuses to load the Intel driver due to lack of KMS. The VESA
+ driver functions properly albeit at low resolution.
Please let me know if any additional information would be helpful.
