Message #59280
[Bug 555152] [NEW] Some window contents broken (display driver problem?)
You have been subscribed to a public bug:
I guess this is related to Nvidia binary driver and Compiz. When I turn
compiz off I don't have this problems.
I attached the screenshot when pgadmin application is running; there one
can see how the database objects display is broken (tree-list on the
left).
I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 with nvidia driver 185.18.36. The kernel version
is 2.6.31-20
Also, when I move my mouse to the top of the screen (for instance,
wanting to click Applications menu) and then the pointer touches the top
of the screen - whole display flickers. This behavior was much worse
until I changed my screen resolution in "Preferences->Nvidia Xserver
Settings" from 'auto' to '1680x1050' (that is native resolution of my
monitor).
I have onboard nvidia 8300 graphics adapter:
mario@buntor:~$ lspci | grep VGA
02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation C77 [GeForce 8300] (rev a2)
SImilair 'broken' behavior I notice in pidgin while having chat
conversations, or in Evince while browsing PDF documents, in Gnome File
Open dialog and so on.
On the other hand I never experienced something like that in Xchat.
** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
