[Bug 559603] [NEW] [10.04 regression] user switch leaves original session unusable

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

The switch user function worked fine in 9.10 but does not work in 10.04 beta.
The session for the user switched to is ok, but you cannot switch back, neither via shutdown menu nor using ctrl+alt+f? hotkeys.
Even the text consoles are broken after you switched user once (they work when just one user is logged in).

To reproduce:

1) switch to some other user using the "shutdown menu"
2) try to switch back

result: screen stays black, but you can reactive the "switched to" user session by ctrl+alt+f? hotkey, text consoles stay black as well
expected result: resume the session of the original user, text consoles still usable.
