[Bug 506656] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV in FatalError()
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 494699 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/494699
Maybe I'm too much of a newbie of infrequent user to use the workaround,
but it seems like a catch-22: 3 broken packages related to this ATI
driver, fglrx. Trying to fix them in synaptic produced an error:
Unpacking fglrx (from .../fglrx_2%3a8.721-0ubuntu7_i386.deb) ...
dpkg-divert: mismatch on package
when removing `diversion of /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libdri.so to /usr/lib/fglrx/libdri.so.xlibmesa by fglrx'
found `diversion of /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libdri.so to /usr/lib/fglrx/libdri.so.xlibmesa by xorg-driver-fglrx'
dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/fglrx_2%3a8.721-0ubuntu7_i386.deb (--unpack):
subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 2
Errors were encountered while processing:
/var/cache/apt/archives/fglrx_2%3a8.721-0ubuntu7_i386.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
So nothing can be updated or upgraded until the broken packages are fixed, but they also can't be fixed (and this so close to the final release!)
