[Bug 570459] [NEW] Xorg nv driver crash (segfault) after upgrade from Hardy

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nv

After upgrading from Hardy, two of the three users on my system couldn't
log-in due to Xorg crashes. After entering the password, I would see the
desktop and hear the login sound, and then X crashes before showing the
menu bars. This is 100% repeatable.

Switching to another driver resolved the issue; using the proprietary or
nouveau driver works. Regardless of the logs attached (which may show
various drivers) the gdm_0.log file is one of the experienced crash of
this report. The relevant section is:

I could possibly get a core dump. While I can figure out how;
instructions would be handy if you have them.
