Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau

I have multiple Monitors (2 external + 1 internal) at my Laptop and tried to use nouveau (= running without xorg.conf). The login screen appears and the whole screen is divided - the right half is left and the left half is right. Logging in it stays this way and Ubuntu complains that setting size is not allowed by the driver.
After all with it's current state I have the feeling that the driver is pretty unusable - which is hilarious since it's the default for Lucid now.
